🎉 The $3 Sale is back! 🎉

celebrate, yay, exciting news, portland events, portland charity events

For those who do not know what the $3 sale is, let me give you some backstory...

The back room at HWGA is exactly how it sounds, a room, a room of organized chaos. A room where employees take their breaks, items are in line to be priced, where consignments are looked through, and returning consignments are waiting to be picked up. There’s a lot going on and inside that little room, all the way in the back, underneath the rack of “go-backs” lies multiple bags of items to be donated, which grows at the same rate as a dust bunny. Once a month-ish (sometimes multiple times a month), we call our favorite local charity shop, Mainspring, to come and take the goods. We schlep bags and bags and bags of garbage bags full of clothing items from the back room, through the shop, down the single step, around the racks, and hand it off to our beloved Mainspring crew. They know the drill. And in the back of the van it goes, to its new destination on 82nd to their free clothing pantry.

Well, one day during our regular schlepping sessions, we (mostly Chris) had an idea. Why don’t we filter through the donations, hold the best, throw a sale, and all the profits go to a different local not-for-profit? And there you have it, the history of the $3 sale was born.

Over the years we have raised more than $11,000 for local charitable organizations! It feels so good to give back to our community and we have missed being able to do so for the past few years (thanks a lot covid!). It has been 966 days since our last $3 extravaganza and we have collected a record amount this time around. Expect to see many popular brands like Nike, Madewell, Splendid, and so many more.

So get your sneakers on, your wallets ready, and come on over to Johns Landing to shop it up for Mainspring Portland one of our favorite local groups, and the recipient of all our clothing donations.

When: Saturday, September 17th ~ Doors open at 10am - 6pm.

Where: 511 S Carolina Street, in Johns Landing.
