Dressing Your Body Type

Dressing Your Body Type

Hi, hey, hello everyone!

Today is all about dressing for your body type. Bodies come in all different shapes and sizes and the goal here is to enhance those beautiful features we all have. Below I have broken down body types into 5 sections, as well as an overall section of style tips that work for anyone and everyone. Let's get into it.

Hourglass

Your waist is clearly defined no matter your size. We want to highlight that! Cropped tops, wrap clothing, anything that cynches at the waist are your friends.  This doesn't mean you can't wear voluminous clothing, just make sure you draw attention to the waist by either throwing on a belt or simply tucking in a top to draw the eye where you want.

Pear

Your hips are the spotlight. What looks great for pear shapes are voluminos tops. Think ruffles, off the shoulder, gorgeous. A-line bottoms also look really good on you.

Apple

Your fullness is at the center. What you want to do here is to draw the eye vertically. Ways to do this is with v-neck, scoop-neck tops, and empire waist bottoms.

Rectangle

What you want to do is to create shape. Think peplum cuts, anything with ruching, and layers. Layers are your best friend and honestly one of the best styling tricks out there to turn a drab outfit into a great one.

Inverted triangle

Your shoulders are broader than your hips. This shape is powerful. Flare or wide leg pants look amazing on you. Your formula should be simple on the top, dramatic on the bottom.

Tips for everyone:

-Tailoring over trends. When you figure out what suits you, stick to it.

- Have good undergarments. You look your best when you feel your best, no fidgeting or wedgie pulling here.

- Accessorize with intention. Draw the eye to where you want to highlight.

- Have some confidence, and good posture, it goes a long way!

Till next time,

Dre
