This is the time of the year when we are reunited with our families to share memories, make new ones, and to eat to our hearts' delight. For a lot of us who don’t have our families in Portland means we gotta travel. As an experienced traveler myself, I have learned that comfy, cozy, and stretchy are the way to go; I always try to find the perfect combo between comfort and style.
So where is the in-between you might ask? I would say a comfortable base top with a cozy cardigan and some pants that have some stretch to them and in a material that is cozy and breathable.
One of the most important elements of the travel outfit is your shoes. You want a pair of shoes that can be easily taken on and off.
Imagine this scenario: You are on a road trip. You just finished eating lunch and downed a few cups of iced tea. Now you are back on the road, heading along your merry way and it starts to happen, you are going to need to pee and soon. But there is no rest stop for miles. So you decide to hold it, one can’t be too far away, right? Well 30 minutes later, still with no rest stop in sight and you are holding it and holding it and holding it. Then! A sign for a rest stop in 2 miles. What a relief! You pull into the parking spot, open the car door, ready to make a run for it and then you realize, you have no shoes on. NOOOO! So you spend some extra minutes fussing with your laces to get those dang shoes on and at this point you might just pee your pants. If you just had a pair of easy shoes to slip on this nightmare would be over!
Here are some shoe options that won’t be fussy in the moments you need to be quick.
Another important travel element is warmth. It might be warm in the terminal but what about once you’re on the plane? And those tiny little blankets they give you, ha! Having some easy throw on options that require the least amount of awkward pulling and tucking will save you in the comfort department.
Bonus: a cozy cardigan can either be used as a pillow or even a blanket!
Here are some cozy and cute picks:
Now once you get to your destination and that part is behind you, it’s time for the party. I don’t know about you, but I always have a hard time shopping for my Thanksgiving outfit. I’m not quite ready for the sparkles and shine but I am looking for something cute and roomy for when I inevitably eat more than my fair share of potatoes. It’s all about balance my friends.
Till next week,
Dre
