I honestly don’t know why some women love shoes, especially designer shoes, so much. Others have a thing for designer handbags. Still others go ga-ga for jackets and coats. I suppose it’s a good thing that we don’t all have the same obsession or the competition could get fierce. All I know is that I happen to be one of the shoe & boot women, and I make no apologies. I wear an unusual size, which makes me sad when most of the consignment designer shoes we get are too small, but I revel in the fact that I don’t have as much competition!
Change your shoes, change your personality
At hwga, we do believe that clothing is essentially costume. What you choose to wear on a given day influences the role you play in the world. Play is the critical word in that sentence. I can change my shoes and take on a completely different persona. Perhaps you feel that way too – do you have a particular pair of shoes that make you feel competent and powerful? Another pair that brings out your playfulness? So do we! Revel in that!
The year of the designer shoes
2017 has brought us a plethora of big name designer shoes on consignment – everything from Gucci, Prada, Dries van Noten, Jil Sander, Christian Louboutin, Chanel, Yves St Laurent, oh, so many! I don’t expect the influx of designer shoes to slow in 2018, quite the contrary!
I love to look at all these beautiful designer shoes the way a kid looks at a candy store. Colorful, pretty, sexy–shoes can be so many things! Think of how different an outfit can be with a different pair
of shoes. The transformative ability of a pair of shoes is nothing short of remarkable. And who would have thought that there were so many different elements that can transform a shoe? Everything from the heel shape and height, materials used, colors, vamp treatment, hardware, details, the possibilities are endless!
In short, I don’t think there’s any hope of dispelling my love of shoes. I like to be comfortable, and confess that I’m wearing UGG boots right now as I write this, but I hope to keep playing with footwear of all types long into the future.
Want to talk shoes? I’m always game for that – tell me about
your favorites and how they make you feel! But if you wear a size 10, lookout, you’ve got some competition!
