Wanderlust: Three Travel Must Haves

Furla travel bags spread out

It’s been a mere twenty-four hours since the first day of summer, and already we have wanderlust! Many of our shoppers are busy making travel plans both near and far. And, with a revolving door of tourists visiting our stores this time of year, it’s easy to live vicariously through mention of far off places. A few weeks ago, a shopper visited us in need of weekend travel wear to attend a wedding in Paris. She brought in a pair of classic Salvatore Ferragamo sandal pumps in metallic gold, and left the rest of the styling to us. She departed with a vibrant yellow and gold dress (with a good twirl for the dance floor), and a few extras for her travel plans. It got us thinking: What are some of our favorite travel must haves lately? Read on to find out.

All Things Maxi

A maxi dress or skirt is the ultimate multi-tasker in adventure mode, and surprisingly low-maintenance. They work just as well with a pair of heels at dinner, or as a wrinkle-free comfort on your next plane ride outta town.

The Northwest Flip-Flop: Flats

Casual flats have long since replaced the flip-flop sandal as the go-to summer shoewear. They’re packable, cute with ankle jeans, and easy-on-easy-off for dipping your toes into the sea.

Keep Calm and Carry On: Mini Zips

A leather travel set is full of possibilities. For those quick weekend jaunts out of town, skip the checked luggage and bring smaller bags for your necessities. Use one as a wallet, one as a clutch, and one to house all those miscellaneous goodies buried at the bottom of your handbag.

We are officially taking summer consignments, so stop by and check out our growing selection of travel must haves. Honorable mentions go to crossbody handbags, leather backpacks and espadrille wedges (just to name a few). Did we leave anything out? Let us know what’s on your wish list this summer.

Chris is a self-confessed resale fashionista. A fashion recycler from an early age, she learned the consignment business from her mother, Jan Gauger, at omt divine resale in Lincoln, Nebraska. Chris moved to Portland, Oregon in 1990 and immediately felt at home, among her people. She started Here We Go Again Deluxe Resale Boutique in 1992 and has never looked back. The second location of her store opened in 1997. Chris loves pretty much everything about clothes and fashion, but she has a serious boot and shoe addiction that is fed by the two stores. It's doubtful she will ever be recovered. In addition to clothes, Chris loves mentoring young women and teaching them about what it takes to run and manage a small business. She has employed some pretty remarkable women over the years and is grateful for all they've done to help grow Here We Go Again. She is a Hoosier by birth, but was raised in Nebraska. She has two sisters who continue to run the consignment store there, and one brother who has sense enough to stay out of the way. Her husband of twenty-seven years, is a land use planner and the fix-anything-guru that Chris relies upon more often than she'd like.
