Trend Spotlight for Spring: Pleats

What’s breathable, flattering and utterly timeless? What flutters and flows like a spring breeze? One of our favorite spring trends: Pleats! With the temperatures warming up (and your winter coats begging to be put away), we’ve compiled some perks to keep this tasteful trend feelin’ fresh.

With the crisp folds of pleated clothing, pleats have long been tied to all things prim and proper. Flash forward, looks are being pushed in entirely new directions. Runways this season played with all different eras, from extra-crinkled to steamed-to-perfection. For an easy day-to-night look, pair a midi-length pleated skirt with peeptoe booties. Some good news: we just started taking open-toe footwear on consignment, along with all types of women’s designer clothing.

Pleats on a dress are an instantly elegant look. Quality pleats are light enough in fabric to be flattering on many body types, but heavy enough to have a nice drape. A dress with pleats can feel like two outfits in one: wear it solo to show off the whole look, or put a jacket or cardi on top for a faux-separates look.

Pleats are not just for skirts and dresses, though. This time of year, we receive some of our most major influx of lightweight blouses, too. For those of you who prefer not to wear tight options up top, a tie-waist blouse with a pleated peplum or hem is both classic and flattering. Pair a pleated blouse with ankle-length jeans and cork wedges on a day out, or with a pair of fitted slacks and pumps for a day on the job.

Check out our mini-model Lili in a gorgeous aqua pleated maxi. She speaks the truth, too: Stop by every Third Thursday for Resale Happy Hour this spring! (Or anytime, of course, new items are arriving every day!)

Chris moved to Portland, Oregon in 1990 and immediately felt at home, among her people. She started Here We Go Again Deluxe Resale Boutique in 1992 and has never looked back. The second location of her store opened in 1997. Chris loves pretty much everything about clothes and fashion, but she has a serious boot and shoe addiction that is fed by the two stores. It's doubtful she will ever be recovered. In addition to clothes, Chris loves mentoring young women and teaching them about what it takes to run and manage a small business. She has employed some pretty remarkable women over the years and is grateful for all they've done to help grow Here We Go Again. She is a Hoosier by birth, but was raised in Nebraska. She has two sisters who continue to run the consignment store there, and one brother who has sense enough to stay out of the way. Her husband of twenty-seven years, is a land use planner and the fix-anything-guru that Chris relies upon more often than she'd like.
