Spring Fashion Trends: The New Romantic

Lace skirt designer consignment spring trendsSpring consignment and Valentine’s Day will unite this weekend as we begin the transition to the warmer months. Just in time for the festivities, take a look at some of the hottest spring fashion trends that embody that romantic charm. It turns out romance is in the air even beyond V-Day, as countless spring runway shows featured unconventional lace and edgy florals. Romance is taking on a new role this year as a look that is part sweet and part edgy. It means putting a floral skirt against a fierce black backdrop or adding a leather jacket to your most delicate dress. In a way, these dreamy spring trends are perfect for the experimental edginess of Portland fashion. Women here aren’t afraid to bust out their biker boots or motorcycle jackets, but we also know that many of them like to play with femininity, too. It’s about mixing the softness of delicate fabrics with a bit of toughness, too. It’s also about experimenting with traditionally “girly” looks, reinventing them in modern ways.

Lace is taking on many forms this year, drawing inspiration from playful Sixties looks to the drama of vintage. Here we’ve grabbed a few styles from some of our favorite consignments, from textured to edgier lace patterns.

Edgy Florals

Among the first designers who come to mind when we think of floral is Dolce & Gabbana, whose influence on spring femininity is second to none. Known for that signature black background with flowers laid atop, Dolce & Gabbana master the New Romantic like no one else. We’ve gathered some of our best pops of floral apparel, all consignments that have been featured at both of our stores.

Chris is a self-confessed resale fashionista. A fashion recycler from an early age, she learned the consignment business from her mother, Jan Gauger, at omt divine resale in Lincoln, Nebraska. Chris moved to Portland, Oregon in 1990 and immediately felt at home, among her people. She started Here We Go Again Deluxe Resale Boutique in 1992 and has never looked back. The second location of her store opened in 1997. Chris loves pretty much everything about clothes and fashion, but she has a serious boot and shoe addiction that is fed by the two stores. It's doubtful she will ever be recovered. In addition to clothes, Chris loves mentoring young women and teaching them about what it takes to run and manage a small business. She has employed some pretty remarkable women over the years and is grateful for all they've done to help grow Here We Go Again. She is a Hoosier by birth, but was raised in Nebraska. She has two sisters who continue to run the consignment store there, and one brother who has sense enough to stay out of the way. Her husband of twenty-seven years, is a land use planner and the fix-anything-guru that Chris relies upon more often than she'd like.
