Spring Arrivals: Designer Shoes & Spring Shoe Frenzy

At the core, designer consignment is about two things: the unexpected; and the thrill of the hunt. On any given day, we witness an endless parade of designer apparel and accessories departing our store and finding brand new homes. The one thing we have come to expect is that our stores are never exactly the same, and fortunately, neither is fashion! Gathering a handful of our favorite designer shoes at our Johns Landing location this Spring, enjoy some goodies from our treasure trove below.

Designer shoes in consignment are a prized breed. We make sure¬†only to accept shoes that are in great to brand new condition, narrowing our shoe pool into an even more fantastic selection. Some of the shoes we see are works of art, and the stories that go along with them are even better. As it turns out, there are essentially hundreds of stories that can go along with the two questions we are all dying to ask: “Where in the world did you find such an amazing pair of shoes?”¬†and¬†“How in the world could you¬†ever stand to see them go?”

As it turns out, a lot of reasons (good thing it’s such a win-win for us both). Sometimes shoes were given as a gift, other times they were a vacation splurge without fitting so well. With online shopping, no returns also means a little bit of risk. Whatever the reason, we’re lucky to have them and¬†ladies are happy to sell them, too.

All of our staff has a hidden inventory in their minds about which consignors lust for which shoes—and¬†which customers want to buy them. Here’s where the Wish List is a match made in heaven service. In my four years at HWGA, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve called a customer right after an amazing consignment comes in. What happened next? Sold to the first bidder!

Author: Chris Gauger

Chris is a self-confessed resale fashionista. A fashion recycler from an early age, she learned the consignment business from her mother, Jan Gauger, at omt divine resale in Lincoln, Nebraska. Chris moved to Portland, Oregon in 1990 and immediately felt at home, among her people. She started Here We Go Again Deluxe Resale Boutique in 1992 and has never looked back. The second location of her store opened in 1997. Chris loves pretty much everything about clothes and fashion, but she has a serious boot and shoe addiction that is fed by the two stores. It's doubtful she will ever be recovered. In addition to clothes, Chris loves mentoring young women and teaching them about what it takes to run and manage a small business. She has employed some pretty remarkable women over the years and is grateful for all they've done to help grow Here We Go Again. She is a Hoosier by birth, but was raised in Nebraska. She has two sisters who continue to run the consignment store there, and one brother who has sense enough to stay out of the way. Her husband of twenty-seven years, is a land use planner and the fix-anything-guru that Chris relies upon more often than she'd like.
