While we love being in the women’s resale clothing business for MANY reasons, one of the biggies is that it has a lighter environmental footprint than new clothing. For example, did you know that buying a resale designer handbag can save 18 pounds of carbon from being emitted into our atmosphere? Reusing an item that has already been produced is almost always better for the environment than manufacturing or creating a new one. There are many good reasons to buy used goods.
Also on our radar is to go paperless with our consignor agreements. Going digital will save a lot of paper. We try to use recycled paper when possible, but no paper is better! Don’t worry, you’ll still get a receipt for your consignment every time. After all, we need something to put with your consignment for us to keep track, too! Once we figure out the technology part of the equation, we’ll eliminate the account set up paperwork, though.
We have several agenda items at Here We Go Again this year to reduce our resource usage further. It’s long been our goal to greatly reduce the amount of plastic we use. While it will be impossible to completely eliminate it, we’re re-examining our plastic supplies and re-envisioning how to replace them. Step One: we will eliminate our use of plastic earring cards, after using up our existing stock. We’ll be switching to cardboard, which can be recycled!

Our paper bags have always been made from recycled paper, and if you are lucky enough to have one of our magical 25-year anniversary tote bags, those are made from recycled materials as well. We look for durable and reusable bags that can be used over and over-which is the only way that reusable bags are preferable to plastic, believe it or not.

Our new body lotions have delightful all naturally-derived fragrances, infused with Vitamin A, C & E. Not only do they feel fantastic on your skin, but they are also Paraben and Phthalate-free! Yes, we do sell them in plastic bottles, BUT…now you can bring the bottle back to us for reuse. We’ll wash and sanitize before sending them back into circulation. Even better? When you return your bottle, we’ll take $1.00 off your next one!

Oregon is celebrating Earth Month this year, reckoning that we should be giving the environment more than a day’s worth of attention. Although we may be a bit late to the party this year, we couldn’t agree more!
Join us on Earth Day, Monday, April 22nd, 2019. Both stores will be donating 10% of our sales for the day to Depave, one of our favorite local environmental organizations. Help us support their great work eliminating overpaved spaces and creating nature-friendly gardens and play spaces.
