Get to Know Terra: Designer Consignment Expert

Meet Terra

01 (3)

Hometown: ¬†Aumsville, Oregon. It’s a small town outside of Salem. It’s off of Hwy 22, which is on the way to Eastern Oregon (Detroit, Sisters, Bend)…so you’ve might have passed it, and just missed it by a blink! ūüėČ

Favorite place ever lived:¬†I am an Oregonian, born and raised. I have lived in a small city and the big city, and for me it’s hard to choose a favorite! The Fashion designer in me of course loves Portland, but my Tomboy side loves the small town. So… both!FB_IMG_1439958256948

What is the one thing you’d tell a newcomer about Portland?¬†Don’t let anything you see on the streets surprise you! Always expect the unexpected!

Favorite hobby or crafty talent:¬†I would say Body Painting & Special Effects. I went to school for Apparel Design. Since then, I have started a journey from designing “ready to wear” to designing costumes and custom clothing. This journey has included an amazing apprenticeship with Body paint by Numbers. It was there where¬†I fell¬†in¬†love with the world of Special Effects, and I hope to continue to learn and grow with it!

Favorite family tradition:¬†Every¬† Christmas we would watch a short movie called “I Wish for Wings that Work”, an Opus & Bill¬† cartoon. It’s just a time to sit back and laugh!!

Favorite seasons:¬† Summer & Fall:¬†Summer for all the amazing sunshine, camping, camp fires, BBQ’s, and….Brewfests!!¬†Fall, one word….HALLOWEEN!!! COSTUMES, HORROR MOVIES, and…OK, hot apple cider, and the beautiful colors autumn brings!

Guilty pleasures:¬†Starting my mornings drinking coffee and watching Golden Girls!! Then ending my day drinking a glass of wine or beer and watching Star Trek…..Next Generation!!

Best little kid photo of you ever:¬†A picture of me when I was about 2 yrs¬† old wearing my dad’s (XL) leather motorcycle jacket over my head like a cape with my “scary/ monster face”!!

Fave holiday: HALLOWEEN. Did I mention I like Halloween? Haha!  Love all the horror & the candy!! As well as the Party my family always has!

Fave thing to cook or eat:¬†Oooo….that’s hard because I really do enjoy cooking & eating!! Umm, the best memories would be either Apple Crisp from my Grandparents farm they used to have, or Blackberry Cobbler!

Best thing about resale:¬†You get the best of both worlds….the amazing fashion without the heartbreaking price of “brand new”!

Stop by either location to get the dish on everything from sewing to sinew from Terra! We’re so lucky to have her on our HWGA Team. ¬†And if you need style advice from a designer consignment expert, read what a customer ¬†Heather N. recently wrote us about Terra:

“Terra blew me away with her help! She helped me not only buy clothes, but revise my sense of myself, in a beautiful way!”

Author: Chris Gauger

Chris is a self-confessed resale fashionista. A fashion recycler from an early age, she learned the consignment business from her mother, Jan Gauger, at omt divine resale in Lincoln, Nebraska. Chris moved to Portland, Oregon in 1990 and immediately felt at home, among her people. She started Here We Go Again Deluxe Resale Boutique in 1992 and has never looked back. The second location of her store opened in 1997. Chris loves pretty much everything about clothes and fashion, but she has a serious boot and shoe addiction that is fed by the two stores. It's doubtful she will ever be recovered. In addition to clothes, Chris loves mentoring young women and teaching them about what it takes to run and manage a small business. She has employed some pretty remarkable women over the years and is grateful for all they've done to help grow Here We Go Again. She is a Hoosier by birth, but was raised in Nebraska. She has two sisters who continue to run the consignment store there, and one brother who has sense enough to stay out of the way. Her husband of twenty-seven years, is a land use planner and the fix-anything-guru that Chris relies upon more often than she'd like.
