Get to Know Us: Boutique Ambassador Kaylie

 Meet Kaylie
Kaylie5
Nicknames: “Tay Tay” and “Tates”.  My little sister couldn’t say “Kay Kay” when she was a wee one and it stuck and went from there. Also, “Tiny,” given to me by my college best friend Claire, which is a little self-explanatory because I’m barely 4’10.
Hometown: Mesa, AZ, home of my cute dog, my lovely family, and 115 degree weather.
Snap your fingers. Name two places you’d like to go and why: Rome, Italy! I went there with my boyfriend Ted last summer when we were backpacking Europe and we fell in love with the city, food (I could eat pizza and pasta every day if I could), culture, and history. I would love to go back and spend several weeks there to explore and take day trips from there. I’ve also been dreaming about going back to Santorini, Greece just to chill on the beach and eat delicious Greek food.  Oh man, my wanderlust is getting bad now!
Best travel memory: Spending four months in London, England.  It was the greatest four months of my life thus far. Dramatic, I know.  But so, so true.  Never thought this lil’ homebody could be a city girl, but she can!

Most recent victory: I just graduated from Lewis & Clark with a BA in Theatre w/ a concentration in design, and I’ve managed to survive post-grad life so far!
Cook or bake: Baking, all the way.  I’m actually a little terrified of cooking, to be completely honest.  If I could eat out every day, I might just do that.
Hidden talents?  I’m surprisingly good at hula-hooping.
Not so hidden talents: I like to make things out of fabric, paper, yarn, pretty much anything that I can get my hands on!

Favorite season for Fashion: FALL!!! I’m already daydreaming about chunky sweaters and scarves.  I’m going to visit NYC for the first time this fall, and I might already be planning my wardrobe…
Dresses or handbags: Dresses.  Throw one on and you’re done! People think you’re all put-together, but really, dresses are the easiest things to wear.
Best resale score:  My very first HWGA purchase–an asymmetrical merino wool Vince sweater.  It was my first “grown up” purchase–meaning, it’s something to cherish and protect for the rest of my life (aka don’t spill chai all over it and remember to dry clean).  Just thinking about it makes me feel instantly cooler.
Favorite holiday: CHRISTMASSSSSS! I’m a little bit obsessed.  Okay, a lot. I love everything about it–the music, the decorations, the fact that it lasts an entire month basically–ALL OF IT.  It’s the most wonderful time of the year and my family does it so well.

Fave family tradition: Hanging out in our PJ’s on Christmas Day, brunching, watching Christmas movies, napping, and snacking on cookies throughout the day.

This summer has marked an entire trip around the sun since Kaylie has joined our team—and as sunny as she is, we are lucky to have her!

Author: Chris Gauger

Chris is a self-confessed resale fashionista. A fashion recycler from an early age, she learned the consignment business from her mother, Jan Gauger, at omt divine resale in Lincoln, Nebraska. Chris moved to Portland, Oregon in 1990 and immediately felt at home, among her people. She started Here We Go Again Deluxe Resale Boutique in 1992 and has never looked back. The second location of her store opened in 1997. Chris loves pretty much everything about clothes and fashion, but she has a serious boot and shoe addiction that is fed by the two stores. It's doubtful she will ever be recovered. In addition to clothes, Chris loves mentoring young women and teaching them about what it takes to run and manage a small business. She has employed some pretty remarkable women over the years and is grateful for all they've done to help grow Here We Go Again. She is a Hoosier by birth, but was raised in Nebraska. She has two sisters who continue to run the consignment store there, and one brother who has sense enough to stay out of the way. Her husband of twenty-seven years, is a land use planner and the fix-anything-guru that Chris relies upon more often than she'd like.
