We’re half-way through August, and Fall fashion is fully on our minds! August is a complex month for us fashionistas, especially in the consignment biz. On one hand, we’re soaking up the sun in lived-in sandals, relishing the blue skies that Portland has been giving us non-stop. On the other hand, as we prepare for the excitement of the Fall season ahead, we’re already prepping ourselves for our next new look. In honor of our Fall Intake starting August 15th, here are a few of our favorite Fall fashion trends!
Spicy Mustard
Listed as one of the Pantone Fall 2016 Colors of the season, spicy mustard has been called out as a ‘zestier’ version of yellow than previous seasons. It’s perfectly seasonal (think autumn leaves at their most vibrant point) with a little more kick. It looks great with blue hues, which brings us to our next favorite trend.
Patchwork Denim
The 1970s are here to stay, as you might have noticed with the spike in retro styles in the past couple of seasons. The difference this time around? Blues are rising to the top, with denim emerging as the MVP for Fall. We’re seeing lots of mixing and matching, reconstructed denim and playful patchwork. Blues even got a color shoutout from Pantone, too: Airy Blue.
Shoe-la-la: Sporty and Chunky
Shoewear this season is sporty (think lace-up everything), chunky and platform-a-licious. There are some less expected trends, too, like wearing ankle socks with your pumps or open-toed shoes. Wear a delicate sheer sock with a black pump, or sport a heavy-knit sock with your favorite open-toe ankle boots. Other faves we saw on the runway? Mary Jane heels with several buckle straps, disco platforms, and velvet accents.
